I got a couple of announcements:
The latest issue of "Teeny Tiny" includes two of mini poems. "Teeny" is published by Mandy Laughtland from the Edmonds CC.
Come and join The Band of Poets on Sunday September 13th from 2 to 4 PM. For the 50th anniversary celebration of Jack Kerouac's "Mexico City Blues" at the Richard Hugo House .
This a free event. I will be reading some of the choruses of the book along with John Burgess,
David Rizzy, Jed Meyers and two other poets.
On September 24 I will be volunteering at the Seattle Juvenile Detention Hall as part of Latino Heritage Month Assembly. I'll be sharing a bit of my story and some poems with the youth in detention.
Next month the last issue of "Latino Cultural" will be published and it will include my poem Shutter which is about my experience volunteering with 8 to 12 grade students in South Park this year.
On October 31, I will be doing a presentation related to the Day of the Dead along with audience participation
at The Redmond Association for SPokenword RASP. This will be a Day of Remembrance to Commemorate the Mexican tradition as well as an opportunity for people to learn about this joyful celebration. Please see the website for more information http://www.rasp.cc/raspreading.html
That's it so far.....

Hi y'all
I decided that I should not be posting ANY of my work (scribbles from paper and ink) unto
electronic traceable sites, cuz' the fuzz is out there to see, to read what I've posted in the past.
The past is on my mind, but for them is present when they search your PUBLISHED stuff in your own blog that won't get 'published' go ON THEIR BLOG. So, shape up, get up, clean up and don't post possible publishable shit on your own blog. Comprende????

Frustration
Frustration
Those things bottled inside
words unsaid fed
by burning fire
grown within
tongue cinched
nailed down
to: “responsibility post”
to be
POLITE
carry the vile inside
until it bursts
green toxic liquid
flowing down
in my veins
spitting out words
with sharp nails
shrapnel
piercing egos,
blinding reasons
hurting the love
open tender
through soft ears
plugged
by vile words
of grey thoughts
blackened tongue
twisted approach
to reason
the
unreasonable.

Photo Voice 2009 - Youth in Focus
In honor of all the kids that participated;
Shutter
Bring your eye to the lens
your ear to the ground
look beyond the fence
listen to the pulses
images to be found
the earth at your feet.
Picture
the color of the wind
the radiance of the sun
filtered light
through foliage
everlasting ephemeral
moment.
Generations gather
to hear stories
camera shutters visions
photographic treasure
focused, on youth
community nature
grounded
memories preserved.
Remember children
skipping sidewalk
jumping puddles
larger than lakes
throwing stones
creating ripples
captured
with a click.
Background
foreground
life in the middle
give it time
for time
will tell
your story.

work in progress
Hello all, been very busy lately. Too much stuff going on.
Not Allowed
Don’t tell that to the Mexican folk
trying to get across the borderline
walking running through dessert muddy land
fending vigilantes minute man
caught by green border patrolman
Dignified life no handouts
no giveaways no freebees
nothing on food stamps
just hard work, working hard
landscape, construction
They keep the economy in motion
living under the Star Spangled sky
they respect others, love what’s theirs
under the skin we all bleed red
breath the same air, share this earth
The man, wife and kids are here to live
the life we all have on the land of the free
because they are
on the home of the brave
because they are.

What to do?
What to do when you don't want to do it?
I don't mean IT, just do this or that
lack of energy to do things
welcomed apathy in the eyes of the list
home list of things to do what will not get done.
Books waiting to be held, opened, read
poems waiting to be revised, edited
phone calls to be made, many things to do
that won't get done.
No movies will be watched, no news are good news
I refuse to play that game tonight.

April 29th
I have been to the Mountain
I
North to south, east to west all roads lead to the mountain
on sunny days the snow covered peak is the glory
admired by tourists, the elderly especially children
reached by many on treks expeditions lead by horsemen
magnificent creation enshrined by glimmering light
at her feet shrubs and plants small trees tall pines in the forest.
II
In the good days of summer we take trips to the forest
we stuff our backpacks with food, cameras on our way to the mountain
we have to drive above the clouds before we get to see the light
once we reach Paradise by the flower fields we breathe the air of glory
we rely on the guidance and advice of the tempered horsemen
they pay special attention to all, especially the children.
III
Our grandparents love to walk, but to run and play only the children
there are natural waterfalls, cascades and ponds in the middle of the forest
at all times we obey the instructions of the horsemen
because we do not want to get lost in the mountain
we want to reach the top and proclaim we’ve seen the glory
and feel that we have reached the light.
IV
When dusk falls we use lanterns, gas lamps artificial light
sitting by the fire we enjoy the warmth and the joy of our children
we tell stories of family adventures of fame and glory
such are the pastimes of camping in the forest
we take care of this natural beauty because we love this mountain
as careful as we are, we have required the help of the horsemen.
V
They are tall, rugged, strong, good riders they are the horsemen
when they ride, they magically disappear into the light
these men are the guardian spirits of the mountain
they make sure humans like us behave like respectful children
we appreciate and care for all the living beings in the forest
preserving nature is man’s glory.
VI
When I die, my body will be resting in the grave, but my soul will be in full glory
my good deeds will keep me from the evil horsemen
guarantee that I will not end up in the black forest
for my good karma and love for nature will keep me in the light
I took care of my family, loved my wife, gave all my love to the children
I lived in harmony with the world, loved nature; I’ve been to the mountain.
VII
In spirit I will always look up to the mountain to remind me of the glory
tender as children smiles, stern as horsemen
gleaming in the sun light illuminating the forest.
My first ever sestina!! Yeahhhhh! Raul Sanchez 4-28-09
